Orienteering

Find your way

Map, compass, and adventure...Navigate your way to success

Explore the great outdoors with our exciting Orienteering challenges. Using a map and compass, participants navigate through the woodland and open spaces to find hidden markers to race around the area. Participants can improve their map reading skills and experience options from a simple course around the Centre, to challenging courses covering the whole site.

This activity promotes independence, decision-making, and spatial awareness while encouraging physical activity and a love for nature. Suitable for all ages and skill levels, orienteering is ideal for schools, DofE groups, and outdoor learning programmes. It’s a fantastic way to combine adventure with education in a safe outdoor environment.

  • Learn essential navigation skills
  • Builds independence and decision-making
  • Teamwork + peer support
  • Combines physical activity with problem-solving
  • Flexible for all groups
  • Creating memorable, shared experiences

Forbes

Corporate

We all wanted to say a massive THANK YOU, for making our days at Whitehough so much fun and so memorable. All our members had a wonderful time, and it was so lovely to see people who we thought might not be able to manage all the tasks, not only having a go but absolutely loving trying!

Education

Whitehough is one of my favourite places to go. It’s peaceful, and I feel calm when I’m here. I really like the Leap of Faith – it’s a bit scary, but I feel proud when I do it. Being outside just helps me think clearer and feel better.

Education

We’ve noticed improvements in focus and attention in school after our students spend a day at Whitehough. The activities give them a chance to relax, but also push themselves in a way that feels safe and supported. It’s been especially encouraging to hear the students cheering each other on – the team spirit and social interaction really bring something out in them

There was something really powerful about holding a space for women in such a natural, calming environment. The setting, the sunshine, and the way everyone showed up so openly, everything just flowed. It was beautiful to see the difference in energy from start to finish
